Android Is Changing The World

Many of us will still remember the day our parents came home with the first mobile phone, a huge brick styled phone that could be used without having to be plugged in and could be used outside of the home too. Amazing, but could you imagine that the mobile would advance so dramatically and completely change the world in which we live?

The concept of communication changed dramatically around 15 years ago, beforehand you might remember the beepers people had that could receive a beep to notify someone that they were needed, you will still see this in the movies, the Doctors beeped when on call. I remember my dad had a beeper and my mum would call a number that would send him a beep and he would then call to let her know where he was and when he was due home, I always thought it was so cool, until the mobile phone came along.I never considered that one day I could send instant photos to my friends and family abroad all via my mobile device. Mobile has made the world so much smaller.

I live in a different country to my parents, yet they will join me during trips with my children via video calls, they are part of the school shows which they can watch live and the children’s competitions. The technology has evolved so much and has brought with it so many positive attributes.

The ability to use a mobile device allows you to stay in touch with anyone around the world 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.  But it is not only on a personal level that the mobile world has enhanced our lives, but also on a business level. International business has become so simple, with businesses now contactable 24 hours a day 7 days a week from anywhere in the world. Video conferences allow you to be mobile whilst still staying in touch with your business, emails and cloud services enable documentation to be accessible from anywhere and everywhere. The effects of instant communication has changed the expectations we have on a personal and business level too.

Look at Whatsapp and the backlash it had recently with the new 2 blue ticked approach that showed when the receiver had not only received a message but also read the message. Many people were outraged because this took the instant messaging to the next level, causing a stir when the sender didn’t receive an instant response to a read message. The same is happening with businesses, consumers and clients are expecting to receive instant feedback to their questions and queries, and the response time by the company can be the make or break of a business. How has using mobile changed your expectations on business communication? We would love to hear your opinions
