Google is offering netizens the digital equivalent of an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure with tips for keeping safe while online. In a tips page, Google said the suggestions covered subjects ranging from creating better passwords to protecting one's account from hackers
Among the tips were:
Create a better password than "password"
Find and lock your device before the wrong hands find it
Keep hackers out by updating your browserSay farewell to surprise purchases
Protect your account and your selfies from hackers
Keep prying eyes off your device
A separate report on tech site Mashable said these tips are part of an education campaign to help users help themselves stay safe online. "Be it the ubiquity of hacking or widespread government surveillance, better online security is something that we could all use more of these days .
