Galaxy S5 Receives Android 5.0 Lollipop Update in the UK

8 iarly Deember, Poland was the first country to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy S5. That was followed in quick succession by South Korea and Spain. Since then, Malaysia and Russia have also received the update. Now, with the anglophone world’s patience being tested, the S5 finally looks to be receiving the Lollipop update in the United Kingdom. We choose to blame the delay on Prince Harry. It’s anyone’s guess how much longer this would have taken if Scotland had voted for secession back in September 2014, what with promises from Scottish banks and other firms to relocate to “the UK” in such an event. Now all of Britain can rejoice that auld Caledonia didn’t jilt them so, for Samsung is with them ’til the end.Refreshed design requirements from Google forced Samsung to redesign its proprietary applications while infusing everything with a Material Design sheen. TouchWiz brings additional features like heads-up notifications, MirrorLink support, Tap & Go, ART runtime, and more. The Lollipop update is the same (LRX21T) as we’ve seen roll out to other countries. Note, though, that this is built on Android 5.0, not 5.0.2, which is interesting, considering the latter is what Samsung is testing and rolling out to other devices.
