Rumors name YotaPhone 2 US carrier partner

This year we came back from CES with an old friend, finally getting our hands on the YotaPhone 2 we first saw nearly a year ago in Barcelona. In the time since, we’ve been giving the Android and its unusual dual-screen arrangement our hands-on treatment, and in another day or so our full review of the smartphone should be ready. While we’re sure that will help address many of the questions you may have about this hardware, there’s one answer we don’t have just yet, and that’s the one to the question of who’s going to help Yota Devices bring this phone to the US. Last week we heard confirmation that the manufacturer had indeed reached a deal with a major US carrier, but no one was saying just who. It’s still not official, but recent rumors have attempted to identify Yota’s partner as T-Mobile.Considering we had been guessing that either AT&T or T-Mobile would be Yota’s choice (having heard nothing about a CDMA YotaPhone 2), this rumor rings true enough, even with AT&T’s penchant for snagging itself exclusives. With T-Mobile, at least, Yota doesn’t have to get its feet dirty with the whole subsidy business, instead letting T-Mobile sell its hardware full-price, on-installment to subscribers. As for a timetable, this source talks about T-Mobile sales beginning sometime in March or April. Pricing is similarly up in the air for the US, but expect a figure that’s solidly flagship-level -if not even a little steeper- for this phone that’s like no other.
